Members of Sheet Metal Workers can take additional training in many specialties of our industry. Some of the courses offered include:

Course 1: Basic SMAW (stick) Welding

Participants will learn the basics of the SMAW welding process using 6010 and 7018 rod on various gauges of metal and various positions. Classes are limited to 10 participants and are filled on a first come - first served basis. Classes are free of charge; however a deposit may be required (but will be refunded provided no more than 3 nights of the course are missed). Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 2: Basic GMAW (mig) Welding
           
Participants will learn the basics of the GMAW welding process. Participants will learn the parameters for welding on various gauges of metal and how to weld in various positions. Classes are limited to 10 participants and are filled on a first come - first served basis. Classes are free of charge; however a deposit may be required (but will be refunded provided no more than 3 nights of the course are missed). Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 3: Basic GTAW (tig) Welding
           
Participants will learn the basics of the GTAW welding process. Participants will learn the parameters for welding on various gauges of metal and how to weld in various positions. Classes are limited to 10 participants and are filled on a first come - first served basis. Classes are free of charge; however a deposit may be required (but will be refunded provided no more than 3 nights of the course are missed). Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 4: Pipe Welding

This course is an intense certification course for the ASME Section 9 (Powerhouse pipe certification). Participants must have good GTAW (tig) and SMAW (stick) skills to participate. Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 5: Plate Welding

This course is a certification on 3/8" plate using 7018 rod. Participants must have good GTAW (tig) and SMAW (stick) skills to participate. Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 6: Foreman Training

This course is a 20 hour training program designed to meet the needs of employers and the union by providing highly skilled foremen able to oversee sheet metal work. Please check the Event Calendar for scheduled courses.

Course 7: Ductmate Training

This course is offered on an annual basis and lasts 4 hours. The purpose of this course is for Ductmate Industries to make you aware of the new products they offer and the proper procedures for installation of the various products.
